About John Allen Woodward
John Allen Woodward got his start in Nashville, Tennessee while pursuing a songwriting and singing career. After meeting a Bootmaker to the stars in a local club, he started an apprenticeship working on boots for the most well known entertainers in the country music world. John followed his passion west, starting Woodward Boots in San Diego, California in 1992.
“I love the magic of making. Whether it’s shoes or boots or music, the magic is real magic. You have an idea that you pull out of space, and you gather a pile of raw materials on a bench and at the end of the day, that image becomes real. Real Magic.” – John Allen Woodward
After having retail stores in La Jolla and the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego, John moved his studio to the Rocky Mountains outside of Boulder Colorado.. He lives there with his wife Angie and trusted companion Rocky (a golden retriever).
John has been recognized as a master shoe maker and for his skill, craftsmanship and design. Recent works can be found on episodes of Fox’s “Empire” and Netflix’s “The Get Down”.
